General Description:
The WorkReady Summer Coordinator will be primarily responsible for supporting the design, coordination, oversight and implementation of the WorkReady Summer program. The WorkReady Summer Coordinator is part of a year-round team responsible for providing citywide access to youth interested in WorkReady Philadelphia summer youth workforce development programs. The WorkReady Summer team works to improve the quality of the summer programs that Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) oversees, which includes defining a standard of excellence for programming and working with external providers to build their capacity to achieve that program standard. This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work nights and weekends as needed from April to August. During the months of March to August, the WorkReady Summer Coordinator may oversee a team of up to 25 seasonal staff.
Essential Functions:
• Build and maintain a high level of expertise in youth workforce development strategies and approaches; establish the program locally, regionally and nationally in the youth workforce development field
• Understand the year-round life cycle of the WorkReady Summer program from design and planning in the fall and winter months to execution of contracts through to program completion in the spring and summer
• Support all aspects of program implementation including but not limited to: contracting, monitoring, program evaluation, training and technical assistance
• Help re-design the WorkReady Summer system to enhance the performance of contractors and improve outcomes for youth, as necessary
• Establish and manage relationships with WorkReady Summer program providers and relevant external partners
• Monitor program for administrative and programmatic requirements as outlined by funding streams and applicable state and federal laws
• Ensure providers meet program goals and PYN’s standard of excellence by coordinating the technical assistance and support process
• Respond to all contractor administrative and programmatic requests related to the successful implementation of program
• Interface with internal PYN departments to improve program design and troubleshoot contractor needs
• Facilitate proactive, coordinated communications to specific audiences (PYN staff, providers, youth, schools)
• Design and oversee of the WorkReady Enrollment Center workflow including, but not limited to, managing: enrollment process for youth, filing system for youth and contractor files, data entry of files into proprietary database, youth payroll, and service delivery channels such as the Hotline, Front Desk and centralized email accounts (during months of summer program operation)
• Represent PYN at designated meetings and community events
• Deliver training and technical assistance when appropriate; convene groups of providers to share practices and offer peer support as well as collect and disseminate best practices and other resources to providers
• Special projects as assigned by the Director of Summer WorkReady and the Vice President of Workforce Development
Education, Experience & Skills Required:
• Masters Degree or Bachelors Degree with equivalent experience
• Minimum five years experience serving youth or young adults; knowledge of youth development practices and techniques particularly with underserved populations
• Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to take ownership and drive responsibilities through to completion
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize projects, be flexible, and initiate follow-through with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple simultaneous tasks and demands
• Experience with event planning and/or volunteer organizing is desirable
• Supervisory experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows & Office and ability to integrate technology into operations
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed during months of summer program operation (April-August)
• Successful completion of a child abuse clearance and criminal background check (requirement for PYN employees)
