Workplace Mentors needed, Youth Experiential Learning Program
Posted by on November 26, 2004
Many things can be learned from books, but values usually are transmitted through person-to-person relationships ~ an individual or group who inspires us when we are at a formative age and opens our eyes to new possibilities. The mission of the Triskeles Foundation?s Youth Experiential Learning Program (YELP) is to encourage the transfer of socially progressive values to the next generation. We do this by placing strong, capable high school seniors and juniors in internships with progressive businesses and non-profits ~ organizations and people who are doing something special and making a difference in the world. We believe that such an experience can change their lives, and that many of the young people of today are eager to meet and to be inspired by adults with these values in the working world.
We think our Youth Experiential Learning Program creates a ?win-win? situation for both you (the mentor) and the youth (the intern). You will benefit from an interested, capable young intern who will help with many aspects of your business or organization, as well as the chance to teach various, important aspects of your work. The youth will have the opportunity to experience how your work environment and processes are handled in a manner that sustains and promotes a positive contribution to the world.
