Workforce Literacy Instructor – Part Time, Temporary Position

The Center for Literacy is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing literacy instruction and a wide range of other adult literacy services that respond to the diversity of individuals and enable adult learners to meet their goals. Job Responsibilities: Instruct up to 15 adult paraprofessionals from the School District of Philadelphia in a multi-level class in preparation for an employment test to be taken in June, 2006. Instruction would consist of 4-6 hours per week, teaching a set curriculum of reading, math, and test-taking skills.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree, computer literate.

Job Classification: Part-time, exempt, 4-6 hours per week.

Salary: $30 per instructional hour ? flat rate includes time spent on other instructional activities such as student follow-up, data completion and submission, etc?

Schedule: Weekdays, 1:00-4:00 pm; Saturdays, 9:00 am-1:00 pm. There is flexibility to this schedule. Each Workforce Literacy Instructor will teach between 4-6 hours per week, within the timeframes indicated.

Location: School District of Philadelphia Education Center.

Availability: Begin April17th, 2006 ? Ends June 24th, 2006. There is no offer of employment beyond June 24, 2006.
