Work Ready Program Monitor

The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (http://www.muralarts.org) is the nation’s largest public art program of its kind. Since its inception in 1984 the Mural Arts Program has created over 3,000 community-driven murals and provided thousands of under-served youth and adults with award-winning arts education programming.

Description:
Mural Arts Program (MAP) partners with the Philadelphia Youth Network’s (PYN) Work Ready Program to provide summer programming and employment opportunities for approximately 100 youth enrolled in Art Education and Community Murals programs.  Youth work in teams at sites across Philadelphia with instructors on various individual portfolio pieces and on large or small scale mural projects. These summer programs run 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

Responsibilities:
Contacting interested students and completing paperwork enrollment process in response to ongoing updates from PYN regarding enrollment process. Maintaining electronic and paper student enrollment and payroll files for MAP and PYN.  Serve as liaison for PYN and MAP for all site visits by program monitors.  Ensure that sites are running in compliance with PYN standards.  Visit all sites weekly.  Provide regular reports and meet with MAP staff weekly.

This temporary, part-time position will run 25 hours/week, from mid-April to mid-August – mostly afternoons and evenings from mid-April to June, and mostly mornings and afternoons July through mid-August. A car, driver’s license, and criminal and child abuse background checks are required for this position.

Qualifications:
Experience working with high school aged youth.  Experience managing multiple worksites at once.  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  Ability to respond well to changing demands in a fast paced work environment.
