MANAGER OF EVENTS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS – POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Manager of Special Events and Public Relations is responsible for the planning, organization and execution of all WOMENS WAY special events and public relations for WOMENS WAY.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Special Events

* Management and coordination of all aspects of the WOMENS WAY Annual Event including, but not limited to:
-Developing and managing the budget
-Arranging all site logistics
-Coordinating the printing and mailing of all related materials such as the preinvitation and invitation
-Managing and staffing the volunteer committee and sub-committees, working in cooperation with volunteer leadership
-Organizing all mailings and publicity related to the Annual Event
-Soliciting honoree nominations and organizing the logistics of honoree appearances at the Annual Event
-Managing development of Annual Event audio/visual program (e.g. honoree videos, etc.)

* Provide management and coordination of WOMENS WAY Works Wonders, an annual volunteer event
* Management and coordination of all special events supporting the campaign including campaign kick-offs and the annual meeting
* Management and coordination of public education and advocacy events (approximately 2 or 3 per year)
* Other event-related activities as they arise

Public Relations/Marketing
-Production of the newsletter including layout, editing and writing
-Development of all public relations efforts related to special events and WOMENS WAY activities throughout the year
-Respond to editorials and press releases as directed by Executive Director or Director of Development to current issues, events and grant awards
-Develop WOMENS WAY media list and contacts
-Maintain stock of printed materials as required by the campaign
-Maintain website as liaison with WOMENS WAY’s website consultant.
-Other public relations-related tasks as necessary

Qualifications and experience:
* Commitment to women’s issues
* Bachelor’s degree
* Minimum of three years of creative communications experience,including marketing and/or development publications and event management
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* High level of initiative, energy and creativity
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proven creative copywriting experience
* Proven ability to balance attention to quality and creativity with a rigorous commitment to budget restraints
* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with limited resources
* Ability to manage and motivate volunteers and to work with diverse groups of people
Assignments outside normal working hours are required.
