Witnesses to Hunger Exhibit in Philadelphia

Exhibit showing as part of Community College of Philadelphia’s “Hunger, Homelessness & Poverty Conference” on October 13, 2011
The Witnesses to Hunger Exhibit will be featured from October 10 through October 14 at the Mint Building Rotunda at the Community College of Philadelphia, located at 1700 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia, PA 19130. The Exhibit is open to the public during the hours of 9am to 3:30pm. Artwork from ACHIEVEability will also be on display in the Rotunda.
The Exhibit coincides with the Community College of Philadelphia’s “Hunger, Homelessness & Poverty Conference” to be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Hall. The conference is designed to provide a forum for an dialogue about the increasing issues of hunger, homelessness and poverty among college students and to identify what can be done to meet this growing problem.
The conference is being sponsored by the Women’s Center at the Community College of Philadelphia, the Center for Hunger Free Communities at Drexel University School of Public Health and the ACHIEVEability Family Self-Sufficiency Program. Dr. Mariana Chilton, Director of the Center for Hunger-Free Communities, will make opening remarks. Other featured guests include: Plenary Speaker John Rowe, Executive Director of the Utility Emergency Services Fund; Keynote Luncheon Speaker Trevor Ferrell, Founder, Trevor’s Campaign for the Homeless; and The Honorable Jannie Blackwell, Chair of City Council’s Committee on Education, Housing and Homelessness and Vice Chair of the Finance Committee.
There is no charge for attending this conference, however, students and interested persons are requested to register by Friday, October 7, 2011.
