Webinar: The School Counselor Crisis and Student Mental Health in Pennsylvania Schools – May 24
Posted by PA Schools Work on May 23, 2023
Join PA Schools Work for our next Lunch & Learn webinar on Wednesday, May 24th at noon about the mental health crisis in our schools. Representatives from the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association will discuss their recent report, which calls on legislators and elected officials to support school counselors across Pennsylvania by establishing reasonable funding and counselor-student ratios to reverse the trend of declining student health.
A generation of students is facing unprecedented mental health challenges that are uniquely difficult to navigate. Meanwhile, school counselors are stretched too thin, saddled with ever-increasing caseloads and significant work isolation. The average counselor-to-student ratio in Pennsylvania is 1:343, well above the 1:250 ratio recommended by the American School Counselors Association.
Come learn how you can help advocate for the school mental health services our students need.
