Webinar: Structuring faculty-led immersions for lasting impact – Feb 18
Posted by Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities on February 17, 2026
Immersion learning experiences in the local or global community can profoundly impact students’ worldview and how they see themselves as future leaders. These engaging experiences push students to examine their bias and vulnerabilities in real-world situations. Yet, without intentional preparation, faculty support, and a structured debriefing process, such experiences can fall short of the intended purposes, reinforce stereotypes, or oversimplify complex issues.
Join the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan’s 2025 Holland Scholar Dr. Katie Clark, who has championed faculty-led immersion experiences for students at the Augsburg University’s Health Commons for close to two decades. Dr. Clark will provide insights and reflections on how these learning moments can have lasting impacts for the students, faculty, campuses, and communities.
Date and Time: February 18, 2:00-2:45 PM
