Webinar: Science with Impact: Why Facts Don’t Change Minds, and What Does – Feb 21
Posted by Transform Mid-Atlantic on February 4, 2025
Science has a public relations problem. Many scholars want to make a social impact with their research, and are increasingly being required to do so through major federal funding sources. This webinar will feature Dr. Anne Toomey, an environmental studies faculty and social science communicator at Pace University in NYC, who will discuss her new book, Science with Impact: How to Engage People, Change Practice, and Influence Policy. The talk will explore the roots of science communication issues, what leads to shifts in attitudes and behaviors, and how scientists and stakeholders can engage effectively with communities and policymakers for real-world change.
Date and Time: February 21, 2025, 12:00-1:00 PM
Cost: FREE for Transform Mid-Atlantic Members, $25 for non-TMA members
