Webinar: Participatory Grantmaking as a Tool to Advance Equity – Oct 6
Posted by Mayor's Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity on September 20, 2022
For too long, government and philanthropy have used a top-down approach to address poverty, with very little success. We know that underresourced communities, when given resources, are capable of solving their own challenges. Participatory grantmaking is one way of transferring those resources and power to those who are marginalized.
Join us Thursday, October 6 at 11 a.m. for a participatory grantmaking webinar to learn what groups in Philadelphia are doing to empower the communities we serve and how it advances equity. Hear about lessons learned, pain points, and how to ensure genuine inclusion.
Speakers include:
- Mitch Little, Executive Director, Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, City of Philadelphia
- Sarah McKinstry-Wu, Director of Grantmaking, Bread & Roses Community Fund
- Damaris Feliciano, Director of Community Relations & Strategic Initiatives, Managing Directorߣs Office, City of Philadelphia
- Inem Olubajo, Director of Programs, AFRICOM
