Webinar: Mental Health & Immigration Uncertainty – Oct 28

Posted by Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration on October 21, 2025

The Presidents’ Alliance, National Latinx Psychological Association (NLPA), ImmigrantsRising, TheDREAM.Us, Informed Immigrant, and the Lab for Immigrant Rights & Mental Health at Rutgers are hosting a webinar to launch a new mental health guide for the undocumented community in response to the growing emotional and psychological toll of today’s shifting political climate. While much of the recent focus has been on policy changes, we believe it is equally critical to center mental health and community well-being.

The new guide is designed to help students, scholars, educators, and practitioners:

  • Protect mental health within higher education communities.
  • Support and strengthen programs and policies for all members, regardless of immigration status.
  • Apply evidence-based strategies for diverse populations, from U.S. citizens to those without status.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez, Assistant Training Director, UCLA CAPS
  • Luz Bertadillo, Director of Campus Engagement, Presidents’ Alliance
  • Dr. Diana Peña, Mental Health Coordinator & Licensed Psychologist
  • Dr. Germán A. Cadenas, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, Rutgers University
  • Dr. Felecia Russell, Director, Presidents’ Alliance (Moderator)

When: Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 1:00–2:00 PM
