Webinar: Conducting and Supporting the Scholarship of Service-Learning – Apr 17
Posted by Barbara Jacoby Consulting on April 9, 2024
As service-learning grows, so does the need for the scholarship of service-learning, or SoSL. Faculty members wonder what are the best service-learning practices to achieve their desired learning outcomes. Campus administrators and external funders want to know about the impacts of service-learning on students, communities and institutional priorities. Assessment provides useful descriptive data that tells us what is happening in a particular situation. SoSL research is generalizable and asks why things occur and what are the conditions under which they do or do not occur.
Features of this webinar include:
- Dimensions of high-quality SoSL
- Who are SoSL researchers
- A research agenda for SoSL that proposes a wide range of critical questions
- SoSL methodologies
- Steps in developing a SoSL project
- Challenges unique to SoSL
- Providing support and guidance for SoSL
- Journals that publish SoSL
- Q-and-A and opportunity for participants to propose SoTL topic
