Workshop helps social workers helps seniors in winter
The Emergency Fund Coalition for Philadelphia’s Elderly and the Pennsylvania Aging, Utilities and Economic Education Consortium will present Weathering Winter’s Worst…Resources for Philadelphia’s Elderly, on Wednesday, November 17th from 1:30-4:30pm at the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, 642 N. Broad St. in the 2nd Floor Auditorium.
The workshop is for social workers and others who help seniors, and will feature reports from experts about the latest in senior assistance during the approaching winter months.
The keynote address will be delivered by representatives of the PA Utilities Commission on the lifting of the electricity rate caps, and presentations on LIHEAP and Crisis Programs, the Energy Coordinating Agency, the Utility Emergency Services Fund, the Benefits Data Trust, weatherization programs of the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation, the oil cooperative sponsored by the Energy Cooperative Association of Philadelphia, the status of the PCA Emergency Fund, the Philabundance Senior Food Box Program, utility company programs for low income consumers, and legal protections regarding utility issues.
