Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars Presidential Cycle
Posted by on October 24, 2011
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is pleased to announce its 8th cycle of presidential campaign academic seminars, starting with Inside Washington 2012 in January, through the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in summer 2012, and culminating in the Presidential Inauguration in January 2013. Faculty brochures will be sent soon to political science department chairs or they can be viewed on our website: http://www.twc.edu/c2012docs .
For students interested in volunteer fieldwork in connection with the national political conventions in Tampa and Charlotte next summer, this is an exceptional way for them to be involved in a historic national event as well as to learn what goes on behind the scenes. After a week of academic instruction and training, students are well prepared to make the most of this experience and to gain a strong sense of civic engagement along with the people in the community. Our academic partners are Hillsborough Community College (RNC-Tampa) and UNC Charlotte (DNC-Charlotte). We hope your students can join us.
We are also interested in hiring faculty to serve as faculty leaders for these programs. For more program information, please visit http://www.twc.edu/c2012 and http://www.twc.edu/c2012docs for faculty leader information. In 2008, over 1500 students and faculty participated in our presidential campaign academic seminars. Our email address [email protected].
Sincerely,
Gene Alpert
