Obama Foundation invites applications for Voyager Scholarship for Public Services
The mission of the Obama Foundation is to help people turn hope into action—to inspire, empower, and connect them to change their world.
The foundation invites applications for the Voyager Scholarship, created by the Obamas and Airbnb co-founder and CEO, Brian Chesky, to help shape the next generation of public service leaders. The Voyager Scholarship Program is a two-year leadership development and scholarship program. Through a transformational combination of barrier-reducing financial aid, an immersive work-travel experience, and a robust network of leaders and mentors, the Voyager Scholarship is designed to inspire, empower, and connect the next generation of leaders and equip them with the tools and resources they need to launch their careers in public service.
The program includes financial aid up to $50,000 (students will receive up to $25,000 per year in “last dollar” financial aid for their junior and senior years of college); a stipend of up to $10,000 and free Airbnb housing to pursue a summer work-travel experience between their junior and senior year of college; a 10-year travel stipend of a $2,000 travel credit per year (totaling $20,000); a Fall Summit; and access to a network of leaders.
To be eligible, applicants must plan to enroll full-time in their junior year of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States in fall 2024, must demonstrate financial need (calculated using a similar formula to the FAFSA), have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, have demonstrated a commitment to public service, plan to pursue a future career in public service upon graduation, and be United States (U.S.) citizens, U.S. permanent residents (holders of a Permanent Resident Card), or individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA).
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Obama Foundation website.
Deadline: March 27, 2024
