Volvo for Life Awards Program Seeks Nominations of Everyday Heroes

Deadline: October 15, 2007

The Volvo for Life Awards (<a href="http://www.volvoforlifeawards.com/">http://www.volvoforlifeawards.com/</a>) is an annual search for and celebration of everyday heroes — ordinary people who are making a positive difference in the lives of others. In the 6th Annual Volvo for Life Awards, three extraordinary citizens will receive a $100,000 charitable contribution to the charity of his or her choice, with one going on to receive the title "America’s Greatest Hometown Hero."

Members of the public can nominate individuals making valuable contributions to society in the areas of safety, quality of life, and the environment. In additions, nominations may be made for the Butterfly Award, which recognizes child heroes (age 16 and under) whose actions are helping to make the world a better place.

An online public vote — from November 7, 2007, through January 7, 2008 — will determine three finalists in each category. Each finalist will receive $25,000 for the charity of their choice and a certificate of merit. Finalists in the Butterfly Award category will receive $10,000 for the charity of their choice and a certificate of merit.

A panel of distinguished judges will then select one winner in each of the four categories. Winners in the categories of safety, quality of life, and the environment receive $100,000 for the charity of their choice. The winner of the Butterfly Award receives $25,000 for the charity of his or her choice. One Grand Award winner (selected from the winners in the categories of safety, quality of life, and the environment) receives a new Volvo every three years for the rest of his or her life. Winners will also have a starring role in a Volvo for life Award documentary and receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City as a guest of honor at our gala awards ceremony.

Nominees must be citizens or legal residents of the United States, including territories of the U.S., or U.S. citizens living abroad. Nominees for the Butterfly Award must meet the aforementioned criteria and be age 16 or younger by October 15, 2007. Organizations and groups may be nominated, provided a single individual is designated by name to accept any and all awards on behalf of the organization or group.
