volunteers needed, Voter ID Education Campaign
Posted by on March 12, 2012
Pennsylvania’s rules impacting your rights as voters are about to change dramatically.
On March 7, the state Senate approved legislation that will require all voters to present photo identification each and every time they go to the polls. Governor Corbett is expected to sign the bill after it takes a quick detour in the state House.
Once it becomes law, Seventy plans to lead a rigorous community-wide effort to educate all voters on the new ID requirements. No one should be denied the right to vote because they don’t have an acceptable photo ID.
WE CAN’T LOSE ONE DAY. For the April 24 primary, voters will be asked for a photo ID, but still be allowed to vote without it. But the law will go into full effect for the November 6 general election.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS ARE NOT IN THE DARK. If you know of any groups or individuals in your community that can assist Seventy’s Voter ID Education Campaign, contact Dan Bright at dbright@seventy.org or 215.557.3600, ext. 124.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.
