volunteers needed, Veterans Reunion

Posted by on May 20, 2013

The Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House is launching the inaugural PVCH All-Army Reunion, a service reunion and US Army birthday party for all US Army veterans in PA, NJ, and DE, on Saturday, June 15, 10am-4pm at Clark Park in West Philadelphia. We are looking for groups interested in volunteering and participating in this community event.

While open to all service members past and present and their families, the AAR will emphasize US Army traditions, history and legacy. The reunion tents will be organized around MOS/branch with an additional tent for sister services. This will give hundreds of Army vets and service members a chance to reconnect, share experiences and strengthen their ties to the greatest fighting force for good in the history of the world. A feature I think will be most interesting to you is our Legacy Tent. We are providing service-members an opportunity to share their experiences, from recruitment to retirement, with local youth and family members. In addition to this feature, we are attempting to provide children focused activities and attractions. We currently have face painting and a dunk tank, but are welcoming the opportunity to provide more. To do this, we will need groups willing to provide these services.

There will be live music, celebrity emcees, UAV flying competitions, Army vs. USAF hot dog-eating contest, Army vs. Navy obstacle course, a Sink the Navy dunking booth, access to food and refreshments, D-Day veterans as guests of honor, information tables from veteran-related and community groups, silent auctions, event merchandise, US Army historical presentations, a legacy tent and other event activities. Tickets are $5.00 per individual and $10.00 per family and can be purchased online at our website or at the door.

We hope that you will consider joining us for what we believe will be a momentous occasion for the community. If you are interested in participating, donating, sponsoring, or hosting a table about your program, please feel free to contact us using any of the means provided below.

Sincerely,
Tara Taylor
