Volunteers needed: Tacony-Frankford Creek streambank assessments
Posted by on July 4, 2003
I’m trying to get together groups of volunteers to do streambank assessments of the Tacony-Frankford Creek. There are six areas for assessment, starting at the Cheltenham Ave./Phila. border and ending at Ferko Playground (in Juniata) There will be a training workshop at Ferko Playground (“J” & Cayuga Streets- the K bus goes stops right there) on Saturday, July 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.(if your group can only do training during the week we can work something out). The assessments themselves can be done the day of training or at a later date. I’ll need to receive the full assessment by the first week of August though.
These assessments are part of the river conservation plan. They provide an opportunity to participate and learn about the problems with the stream and those sections of the stream that are in good shape and need further protection. Also, these assessments will assist with prioritizing the locations of restoration projects once our plan is completed.
Please call or write if you have any questions and to let me know if you can be a volunteer.
Thank you very much.
