Volunteers Needed: Stride Coaches (Fitness Program for Boys, Grades 3-8)
Posted by YMCA of Greater Brandywine on November 5, 2019
At the heart of STRIDE are amazing volunteers whose commitment and passion change the lives of thousands of boys each year. Our volunteers are dynamic role models dedicated to developing young men of excellent character. Whether you have just a couple of hours a year, a season or a month to help our cause, we would love to hear from you.
Coaches do not have to be elite runners. They just have to be men or women over 18 who maintain a healthy lifestyle and are committed to improving the lives of boys! New Coaches must attend a half day STRIDE Coach Training. At least one full time coach per team must be CPR certified. We do offer complimentary CPR training to coaches on specific dates each season. All curriculum and materials are supplied and coaches are provided with a support network and tips along the way.
At STRIDE we are committed to equipping our coaches with the skills and knowledge they’ll need to lead their team through a transformative season. During coach training you’ll learn about building relationships within your team, creating an environment the boys can thrive in and becoming familiar with the curriculum and activities you will lead during the season. You’ll also get the chance to meet other coaches, share your expertise and have some fun. We look forward to seeing you there!
In order to become a NEW coach for STRIDE, you must complete the three steps below. Returning coaches must complete the Return Coach Application and ensure their clearances and certifications are current.
- Complete the Volunteer Coach Application.
- Complete the volunteer clearance process. Click here to view instructions.
- Attend Coach Training.
When you sign up to be a STRIDE coach you’re signing up to change lives. Our coaches come from a range of backgrounds, professions and levels of experience. One thing they all have in common is a passion for helping boys grow. We are honored and excited to have you join our team of volunteer coaches! If you have any questions, please contact us.
