Volunteers needed, Service Marathon at Penrose Playground

Posted by on April 20, 2009

Dear Friends!

Please join the University Community Collaborative of Philadelphia at Temple University next week for the “100 Hours of Power” Service Marathon at Penrose Playground organized by City Year Greater Philadelphia, in partnership with Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education and the Federation of Neighborhood Centers’ Teens 4 Good program.

From Tuesday, April 21st through Friday, April 24th, we will be gathering from 3:30 – 11 p.m. to paint a mural on the exterior of the Recreation Center.  The theme for the mural, developed by youth from the Penrose Community, will be “The Circle of Life”.  Through a combination of pictures, words and symbols, it will highlight the many positive things that people in the Penrose community are engaged in over the
course of their lives.  Under the guidance and direction of Teens 4 Good, we will also be building a series of flower beds and starting a small community garden!

If you would like to sign up for a volunteer shift, please contact Catie Cavanaugh at catiec@temple.edu.  However, you are also welcome to stop by at any time and lend a hand.
