Read Across America Day scheduled for March 2nd
The National Education Association’s Read Across America event is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child to celebrate reading on March 2nd, the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss.
The project also provides parents, caregivers and children the resources and activities they need to keep reading on the calendar 365 days a year.

For the past nine years, Philadelphia READS has hosted the Read Across America Day in Philadelphia celebration. The event, which this year celebrates the 106th birthday of the man otherwise known as Theodore Geisel, brings together business, civic and education leaders throughout the city to read to students at Philadelphia schools.
Philadelphia READS is seeking volunteers from area companies and organizations to be guest readers any day between March 1st and March 5th.
To sign up, email Adrienne Jacoby at [email protected] or call her at 215-279-7450.
