volunteers needed, Protege Mentoring Program

RSVP is looking for a few mentors for Protege program
RSVP’s Protege Mentoring Program is in need of volunteers interested in mentoring a local student who has been identified by school counselors as a child who would benefit from a consistent and reliable adult in his or her life. Adult mentors befriend students who often deal with difficult circumstances in their lives.
A mentor becomes a role model, offers guidance and advice as well as provides a friendly consistent and reliable voice in the life of their students. Mentors, especially men of diverse backgrounds are desperately needed in the North Penn and Norristown areas. Students in these school districts have been identified and are awaiting a match.
Since the RSVP mentoring program began more than 20 years ago, hundreds of youth have participated. Today the program includes more than 40 participants ranging in age from 7 to 21. The mentoring pair may spend time discussing relevant issues, creating memories and fun times through attending sport and cultural events, working together on school projects or studying for tests while building a bond of friendship as well as self esteem. To learn more please visit our website, email [email protected] or call (610) 834-1040, ext.123. RSVP is a multiservice nonprofit organization responding to community needs through volunteerism.
