Pottstown Meals on Wheels seeks volunteers
Family Services’ Meals on Wheels program is in need of volunteers to pack and deliver meals to homebound elderly and disabled individuals in the greater Pottstown area.
Each weekday, Family Services’ Meals on Wheels program provides two meals, a hot lunch and a cold supper to refrigerate, to an average of 160 homebound elderly and disabled individuals in Pottstown, Royersford and the Lower Perkiomen Valley. Community volunteers personally deliver over 81,000 meals a year, bringing nourishment, friendship and a kind word to those most in need.
Meals on Wheels packing volunteers meet each weekday at Family Services’ Pottstown Office at 1976 East High Street in Pottstown. There are two shifts to pack meals, 8 – 10:15am and 10:30am – noon.
Volunteers who deliver meals gather at Family Services’ Pottstown Office each weekday at 10:30am. Delivery routes take approximately one hour to complete. Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and their own reliable vehicle.
Most volunteers commit to packing or delivering meals once a week, while others volunteer on a substitute basis. Training is provided. For more information, call Ruth Hood at 610-326-1610 ext. 226 or email [email protected].
