volunteers needed, PhillyPatientRide
Posted by on January 02, 2011
Many times the greatest challenge a cancer patient faces is getting to and from their treatments. That’s why PhillyCarShare has partnered with the American Cancer Society to create PhillyPatientRide, a program that provides free transportation to patients who may have no other way to getting to their life-saving appointments.
This is a ten week pilot program that will begin Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Volunteers will be trained and have access to PhillyCarShare’s fleet of vehicles for the use of providing transportation to participating area hospitals. Interested volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, have just a few hours available per month, be able to attend an initial one-training session for new volunteers, and the drive to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients here in Philadelphia.
