Volunteers Needed, National Conference on Volunteering and Service

Posted by on April 30, 2007

We have a great opportunity we would like to share with you and your volunteers.

On July 16 to 18th, 2007, there will be a National Conference on Volunteering and Service that will bring together leaders from the field of community service and volunteer management in Philadelphia, PA. Jointly sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation and the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Conference will feature the finest plenary speakers from the corporate, non-profit and government sectors; more than 100 workshops on volunteer management, workplace volunteerism, professional development and successful program leadership; and meals and entertainment for socializing, networking and fun!

The theme for this year?s Conference is ?The Power of We?. This theme proudly declares the power of collective action to solve our problems ? a hallmark of America?s character since our founding that is more important today than ever before.

Our locally-based Host Committee is actively recruiting volunteers to help staff members carry out the work of the Conference on-site. The work done by volunteers will be vital to the success of the conference and volunteer responsibilities will be part of every aspect of the conference. In addition, volunteers who commit to one three-hour shift may register to attend all Conference sessions for just $150! Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age at the time of the conference and reside in the greater Philadelphia region (Southeast Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware.)

We encourage and invite diverse community members and all ages to apply to volunteer during the conference. Volunteer designation will cover the registration fee only. There will be additional expenses including travel, hotel accommodations and food, if applicable. It is important that the applicant and organization determine if they can cover the additional conference expenses prior to applying. Upon receipt of your application, the Host Committee will review and selections will be made.

We are asking all applicants to apply online here: http://www.1-800-volunteer.org. In the search box type in “Conference”, and “Philadelphia, PA.” You will see a listing of all of the volunteer opportunities starting on July 13 and ending on July 18. You can arrange them alphabetically or by date simply by clicking on the column heading by which you wish to organize.

Volunteer positions will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Please submit the completed form. You will receive an email of the status of your application upon acceptance.

Sincerely,

Alba Martinez
