Montco Tax Coalition seeks volunteer tax preparers
The Montgomery County Tax Coalition is looking for volunteers to train as IRS-certified tax preparers for the upcoming 2011 tax season.
Each year, MCTC provides free tax preparation services to working families and individuals earning under $49,000 in annual income through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Last year, MCTC volunteer tax preparers were able to return nearly $3.5 million in refunds to working individuals and families.
With no prior accounting experience necessary, volunteers receive free tax certification training by the Internal Revenue Service. Becoming an IRS-certified tax preparer is a great way to build a resume, learn a new marketable skill or meet new people.
The MCTC is a 15-member collaborative of community nonprofits and educational institutions in Montgomery County and the surrounding communities of Philadelphia and Delaware County.
