volunteers needed, iPraxis Science Ed Program
Posted by on October 01, 2012
For the second year, a nonprofit called iPRAXIS is bringing volunteers with science and engineering backgrounds are headed out to Cook-Wissahickon to work with students for an hour a week for twelve weeks on Science Fair projects. These volunteers, called Scienteers for science volunteer, have problem solving skills and range from students at local universities to PGW and Septa employees to doctors. Each volunteer wants to share their expertise and understanding of the world with middle school students and provide them with the ability to create a project and see it through to completion. Unfortunately, there are not enough volunteers to work with all the students however which is why we need YOU! It takes just 70 minutes a week as you help guide a group of students through their science fair project in either Mr. Ramos’ or Ms. Powers’ classrooms. Seventy minutes that can change a child’s life! If interested, please contact the iPRAXIS Program Director, Meagan Hopkins-Doerr, at 215-966-6253 or Meagan@ipraxis.org
