Volunteers Needed for Leveling the Playing Field
Posted by Leveling the Playing Field on April 26, 2022
Leveling the Playing Field was founded in 2013 in response to the growing inequity between those that can afford to play sports and those that cannot, and the prominent role the cost of sporting goods was playing in that gap. LPF redistributes equipment to expand access and equity within youth sports and recreation programs in under-resourced communities.
Leveling the Playing Field collects new and gently-used sports and playground equipment from the local youth sports community. Volunteers then sort the donations in our warehouse so that we can distribute the equipment to schools and organizations working to provide an affordable and accessible option to under-resourced youth groups, community programs and schools throughout the local area.
Did you know that 1 in 5 underserved families do not register their kids in youth sports because of the price of sports equipment? Since 2013, Leveling the Playing Field has worked every day to engage our community to ensure that every child has access to during and out of school time sports activities no matter what their economic situation is. Every year we distribute millions of dollars worth of equipment into our most vulnerable communities. We need YOU to keep up the momentum.
