Volunteers needed for an Historic Event!

“By the People: America in the World” is coming to Philadelphia January 10th-12th!

What if the entire United States could sit down in a single room to tackle the toughest issues facing the nation? It?s taking place this January in Philadelphia, and you can help make it happen. For only the second time in American history, a representative random sample of the American public is getting together to talk. On January 10th -12th, over 350 Americans of every region, race, faith, and profession will gather for one extraordinary weekend to ask one very important question: What is America?s role in the world today?

Philadelphia Cares seeks volunteers to assist with By The People?s National Issues Convention, which runs from 6 p.m. on Friday, January 10th to 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 12th. Volunteers are needed to fill various shifts during the weekend to help with greeting delegates, audio recording small group discussions, staffing the help desk, and assisting delegates during the live two-hour broadcast from the University of Pennsylvania?s Zellerbach Theater on Sunday morning. Volunteers will receive meals and goodie bags and will be able to observe small groups, attend the live entertainment event on Saturday evening and attend the live broadcast of a Q&A with elected officials, hosted by Jim Lehrer of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
