Volunteers Needed for 100 Hours of Power

Posted by on March 5, 2007

City Year’s 100 Hours of Power is a 100 hour community service marathon. This year we will hold our second annual 100 Hours of Power at The Bridge, a residential youth treatment facility located in Northeast Philadelphia. Volunteers work in 4 to 6 hour shifts, day and night, to demonstrate the importance and availability of community service projects everywhere. Some of the projects include painting murals, buildings, floors, hallways, rooms, etc., planting gardens, landscaping, building benches, facility renovations, and much more. We are also wrapping up the details for a second site in Kensington and I should have more information about this site soon. We?re hoping to get around 1,300 volunteers and will finish our 100 Hours of Power with Global Youth Service Day on April 21st, where we will hand over the future of community service to the city?s children. The majority of the shifts available on Global Youth Service Day are full, so we are encouraging our volunteers to work a 4 hour shift between Tuesday, April 17 at 11am and Saturday April 21st at 9am.

Online registration should be up soon at http://www.whyiserve.com, but in the meantime feel free to contact me if you need anything or have any questions. I?m available to come and give presentations about the event if anyone is interested.
