Dress for Success seeks volunteers

Dress for Success is seeking volunteers for a variety of roles.

Volunteers can work one-on-one with a Dress for Success Philadelphia client to help her select her professional attire and to provide support and encouragement as she prepares for her interviews. Once a woman becomes employed, she returns to Dress for Success Philadelphia for additional clothing to help her build a working wardrobe. Volunteers assist with this second visit as well, ensuring that women choose items that can be mixed and matched to create several outfits appropriate for the workplace. Personal shopping is an enjoyable and rewarding way to boost women’s confidence and make a direct impact on our clients lives.

Volunteers can also become a Career Center counselor. Working with the Career Center program gives volunteers the opportunity to: support our clients in their job searches; review and edit resumes; help write cover letters; and offer interview tips. Career Center volunteers meet with Dress for Success Philadelphia clients in our office at various times during the week. Assisting a woman as she continues her professional growth and development is a fulfilling and valuable experience.

Volunteers are also needed to help process donations of clothing, accessories and personal care products from our community. Items are sorted, prepared for the “boutique” and displayed to create an attractive environment for our clients.

Dress for Success is also looking for reception desk volunteers. Answer phones, greet and prep clients for suiting and career counseling when they arrive for their appointments, handle receipt of incoming clothing/accessory donations and welcome all other visitors to the boutique.

Volunteer shifts available include Monday-Friday, 10 am to noon and 1o am-4 pm, or all day from 10 a.m. to 4 pm.
