Volunteer tutors needed in Delco as waiting list grows
Delaware County Literacy Council is asking Delaware County residents to make a difference in the community by becoming a volunteer literacy tutor.
Currently, nearly 50 adults are waiting for a one-on-one tutor to assist them in learning reading, writing, math, or English as a Second Language. Tutors meet their adult learners in a local library or other public place twice a week, using materials provided by the Literacy Council.
The next free tutor training for reading and ESL volunteers will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, March 19, 21, 26, and 28, from 6:30 to 9pm at DCLC, 2217 Providence Avenue, Chester. Attendance at all four sessions and pre-registration are required. A special math tutor training will be held on Saturday, March 10th from 9am to 2:30pm at DCLC. To learn more about becoming a volunteer, call 610-876-4811 or visit here.
