Looking for a new and different way to gain experience in working with children?

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CHILDREN’S BEREAVEMENT PROGRAMS
at the Center for Loss and Bereavement    Skippack, PA
A non profit organization of professionals in the field of grief and loss

Camp Millie is a 4 day, fun-filled, fast-paced summer bereavement camp (held June 25th – 28th, 2012) for children between the ages of 6-14 who have experienced the death of a parent/sibling.  Volunteers can be assigned as Camp Buddies to 2-3 campers, providing support and encouragement throughout the camp (ages 20 and up, 3-day training required and 4-day commitment – 5.75 hrs/day) or Activity Volunteers who assist with camp crafts and games (ages 16 and up, 1-day orientation required and preferably a 4-day commitment).  This is a short term commitment with long term rewards!

Nello’s Corner is a peer bereavement support group program for children between the ages of 4-17 yrs who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling.  Volunteer Facilitators (ages 20 and up and 3-day training required) are assigned to a specific group which meets every other week, September to June. (Commitment is 4.5 hrs/mo)

The Three-day Facilitator Training Course at the Center provides:

•    An understanding of the grief process
•    Practical skills for working with children as a grief facilitator in a support setting
•    Opportunity to explore awareness of personal beliefs and experiences with loss

Spring Training dates are scheduled for April 20th,
April 21st and April 28thth, 2012 from 9 – 4pm (space is limited).
Trainings are only for those able to commit to an entire 4 day Camp session or one year with a Nello’s Corner group.
