Volunteers Needed: Chester County Intermediate Unit, Migrant Education Program

Posted by Chester County Intermediate Unit on January 11, 2022
The Philadelphia-based team of Chester County Intermediate Unit’s Migrant Education Program continues to facilitate virtual afterschool programs for our K-12 students. We have had a wonderful group of volunteers supporting us as tutors since the start of the pandemic. Our program has been rapidly growing over the past few months and we are looking for volunteers for the Spring semester of our virtual tutoring program!

Volunteers will connect with students via Zoom for after-school tutoring from 4:00 – 5:30 pm on Mondays (K-5th grade) or Tuesdays (6th-12th grade). Programming will run through May 26, 2022.

We are seeking volunteers ages 18 and up with experiences working with young people. Our students are speakers of many languages who are English Learners and many also are newcomers to the United States. Being a speaker of additional languages is not a requirement to become a tutor, but it is certainly welcomed!

Volunteers will need to submit a valid PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance (if residing in PA for less than 10 years). Volunteers also participate in a 1 hour orientation session to learn more about the students they will serve and to explore the supportive resources available for our tutors.

Please complete our volunteer interest form to get involved!

Questions? Please contact Program Coordinator Karisa Barlow at [email protected] or 484-639-5397. Thank you for your interest in supporting our students!
