Volunteer with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

Posted by United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey on September 24, 2024

Did you know Philadelphians miss out on an estimated $450 million in federal and state income-supporting benefits and $100 million in tax credits each year – leaving our region’s lowest-income families without critical financial support?

These missed benefits could help families cover essential needs like groceries, rent, and childcare or even start an emergency savings fund.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is working to change that.

In partnership with our community partner, Campaign for Working Families, VITA provides free tax preparation and financial counseling to low-income individuals and families across Greater Philadelphia.

This vital work relies on dedicated volunteers to guide individuals and families through tax preparation and filing, helping them get their maximum refund and receive the benefits they’re entitled to.

Campaign for Working Families now offers virtual VITA Volunteer training, making it easier than ever to get certified to help—from the comfort of your own home.

Sign up today and join the effort to connect families to vital tax services and put more money back into their pockets.
