Volunteer nurse practitioners need for summer physicals

The number of summer jobs available to Philadelphia youth this year has increased dramatically with the addition of one-time federal stimulus funds, but fears are increasing that a requirement that each youth have a physical might threaten the eligibility of hundreds of city youth.

Under state child labor laws, minors under the age of 18 require working papers to be eligible to participate in the summer jobs program.  But the availability of free physicals for young people is extremely limited.

The Philadelphia Youth Network is urgently seeking volunteer physicians or nurse practitioners to conduct the physicals on weekdays between 3:30 and 6pm and on Saturdays from  May 15th through June 12th.

Physicals will be provided at the Gallery mall during the week and at District 1199C union hall at Juniper and Locust Streets on Saturdays.
