Job Concept
Volunteers are a fundamental part of the Project H.O.M.E. community. Coming from all walks of life, Project H.O.M.E.’s individual and institutional volunteers donate their time, energy and skills to every aspect of the organization. As a member of the Development Department at Project H.O.M.E., the primary responsibility of the Volunteer and In-Kind Gifts Coordinator is to oversee, coordinate and continually improve upon and develop the Volunteer Program – with an emphasis on relationship building.
Examples of Specific Job Activities/Reponsibilities:
Implement and maintain necessary tracking and organizational systems to enable Volunteer Program to run efficiently and effectively; including maintaining/inputting all Volunteer information on the Development database in a timely fashion and improve methods for use of the database in tracking and communicating with volunteers
Assess Project H.O.M.E.’s immediate and long-term volunteer needs.
Reach out to all of Project H.O.M.E.’s sites/programs to see how volunteers can be best used to benefit the programs while providing the volunteers with a rewarding experience.
Ensure that all volunteers are acknowledged/appreciated and develop creative and fresh ways to do so.
Develop innovative ways to use volunteers.
Organize Volunteer Orientations for all new volunteers and oversee implementation and improvement of electronic automation of volunteer processes.
In partnership with the programs that are directly overseeing the volunteer(s), supervise and train – as necessary – all volunteers.
Help organize volunteer-driven events for the residents, such as BINGO or parties at residences, etc. and plan and facilitate corporate volunteer events.
Work closely with rest of Development Department and Program Coordinators/Directors to maintain updated lists of volunteers for each site.
Organize Project H.O.M.E. site visits as needed.
Assist with education of the public about not just Project H.O.M.E.’s volunteer opportunities, but also its programs and issues (such as homelessness). This may include public speaking engagements at various secular and religious organizations.
Coordinate (with holiday volunteer assistance) all Thanksgiving Donations:
Work with residences to integrate volunteers
Organize community pick up
Write thank you letters
