On Friday, April 16, 2010, the North Penn United Way and the Greater North Penn Collaborative for Health and Human Services’ Financial Stability Cabinet will recognize the 2009-2010 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program volunteers.
What is VITA?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax preparation services to low to middle income families living in the North Penn and Indian Valley region. The program is staffed by volunteers from the community who have committed to serve as tax preparers and financial stability assistants for the 13-week filing season. To date, the VITA volunteers have served over 200 taxpayers and returned more than $400,000 to the community in refunds. VITA sites are open until the end of tax season and totals are expected to increase.

The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale from 6pm-8pm.
