The Health Squared Coalition is made up of three organizations Campaign for Working Families (CWF), Delaware County Asset Development (DelCoAD), and Montgomery County Asset Building Coalition (MCABC). CWF, DelCoAD, and MCABC are all Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) providers with a primary focus on serving low to moderate income families and individuals. The Coalition will connect tax customers with accurate information about new health insurance options under the Affordable Care Act, information about how health insurance is connected to tax time and opportunities to enroll in health insurance. The Coalition will also identify new opportunities for outreach to low-income individuals and families to connect them to information about the Affordable Care Act and accessing public benefits more generally. The VISTA will be responsible for developing this new outreach programs and recruiting volunteers to make them happen.
Member Duties : In the first year of operation, the Coalition will provide unique services to 20,000 individuals and households. The VISTAs will help partnering organizations already involved with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance to:
• Integrate information, eligibility screening and healthcare enrollment under the Affordable Care Act to tax time VITA programming and follow-up programming.
• Build upon Resource Builder program for the following outcomes:
o Develop site specific curriculum for Resource Builder volunteers and staff with a focus on financial coaching and financial capability to maximize impact at the tax site.
o Engage and train volunteers to screen unique families for various financial resources and in engage in meaningful financial conversations at the tax site.
Compensation:
AmeriCorps*VISTAs commit to a full-time year of service for a minimal living stipend of approximately $12,132 per year. VISTA members are provided health coverage and loan forbearance for any current federal student loans. Upon completion of the full year, they also receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of $5500 that can be used to pay for future educational expenses and/or pay off student loans.
