Program Specialist (VISTA Leader) 2016-2017
General Overview
The Program Specialist will be responsible for creating and overseeing programming and providing member support for our 15 Philly Fellows along with the 5 members of our Data for Impact Fellowship. The position will report to Philly Fellows’ Executive
Director Duties and Responsibilities – Philly Fellows
VISTA Support
• Provide one-on-one support for fellows related to housing, work, or other fellowship-related issues
• Keep fellows up-to-date with all Philly Fellows activities and facilitate communication among the group
• Assist with formal evaluation process of fellows and agencies, and arrange check-in meetings between fellows, supervisors, and Philly Fellows’ staff
Leadership and Professional Development
• Organize monthly leadership development dinner speaker series
• Organize monthly professional development and career development workshops
• Create and implement a fellow mentorship program
• Build partnerships and raise funds to support existing and new leadership programs
• Create a curriculum of leadership and professional development activities
Social/Cultural/Service Programming
• Organize social events with fellows and identify opportunities to introduce fellows to Philadelphia’s cultural assets
• Identify opportunities for additional civic engagement for fellows
Recruiting
• Engage in electronic outreach with PF university partners and college seniors interested in service
• Develop new pathways for reaching prospective fellows
• Organize and attend campus events such as information sessions and recruitment fairs
• Participate in evaluation and selection of fellows in concert with PF Selection Committee

Project Support
• Provide one-on-one support for fellows related to projects, training, and other fellowship-related issues
• Keep fellows up-to-date with all program activities and facilitate communication among the group
• Assist with formal evaluation process of fellows and agencies, and arrange check-in meetings between fellows, supervisors, and Philly Fellows’ staff
• Develop additional civic engagement opportunities for fellows
Training
• Develop additional low-cost or free training opportunities for fellows
• Work with individual fellows and agencies to identify project- and fellow-specific technical support and training needs
Planning
• Work with PF ED to develop long-term plan for continuation of Data for Impact Fellowship
• Help identify additional partners to continue programming
• Participate in program recruiting for a potential second year of fellowships
Benefits
The VISTA Leader will receive the standard package of CNCS-supported benefits for this position, which include:
• A living stipend (VISTA Leaders receive $200 more per month than regular VISTAs: currently $1,226 monthly)
• Healthcare support
• An education award or end-of-year stipend upon program completion
Additional benefits:
• A housing stipend of up-to $600 per month (to be paid directly to landlord)
• The opportunity to attend all trainings for both Philly Fellows and the Data for Impact fellowships
