JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger
New hire will be paid through the Americorps VISTA program.

Program Description
The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger offers a unique opportunity to work closely with charitable feeding programs while simultaneously addressing system-wide hunger issues. Recent programs include: The Nourish Your Soul Community Cookbook, a 200 page collection of recipes and stories which, once published, will be sold as a fundraiser by Philadelphia soup kitchens and food cupboards; The Walk Against Hunger, our annual public awareness and grassroots empowerment event drawing over 3,000 participants from the five county area; The Philadelphia Food Stamp Enrollment Campaign? a USDA funded campaign that trains volunteers to help low-income clients determine their food stamp eligibility and if found eligible, assist them in the application process. These programs and more are cranked out of a small close-knit office located in a unique North Philadelphia neighborhood convenient to public transportation. As a VISTA, you would actively participate in all aforementioned programs with many opportunities for creativity and skill-development. Experience is not as necessary as the willingness, acuity, and self-starting attitude to get your hands dirty and dive in. Previous VISTA volunteers have left GPCAH with the skills they need to enter the job market or move on to graduate school.
