The Bryn Mawr College Community Service Office is now accepting applications for an AmeriCorps*VISTA through Pennsylvania Campus Compact (PACC).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, May 23, 2003

SERVICE DUTIES:
? Run the Community Service Office tutoring program by:
1. Hiring, training, supervising work study tutors
2. Recruiting, training, supervising volunteer tutors
3. Training and supervising education placement tutors
4. Hiring, training, supervising two student coordinators
5. Maintaining tutoring records and history
6. Maintaining and nurturing current tutoring program partnerships
7. Incorporating new partnerships when appropriate
8. Recruiting local children to participate
9. Identifying and/or developing research instruments to evaluate all aspects of the tutoring program

? Work with Bryn Mawr College?s students, faculty, and staff in an effort to reduce poverty for children and youth

TUTORING PROGRAM MISSION:
The mission of the Community Service Office tutoring program is to inspire children to love learning. Children do well what they do often, and they do often what they enjoy. The AmeriCorps*VISTA will support active engagement and community responsibility in Bryn Mawr students by facilitating their service as tutors and mentors to local children. Highlights include participation in the unique campus lifestyle of an all women’s college and the hustle and bustle of nearby Philadelphia.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must be at least 21 years old with a Bachelor Degree. Teaching or tutoring skills, youth development skills, and a valid driver’s license are essential. Applicants must make the commitment to attend Pre-Service Orientation August 26 – 29 and begin service on September 2, 2003 and complete service on September 1, 2004.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
? housing in Bryn Mawr College graduate student housing
? living allowance of approximately $382 every two weeks
? relocation allowance (for those relocating more than 50 miles to serve)
? child care, if eligible
? health insurance
? life insurance
? continued training opportunities
