The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program presents
ALL JOIN HANDS: THE VISIONS OF PEACE PROJECT WORKSHOP SERIES
“Poetry as a Bullet Proof Vest”
By Theodore Harris
In this workshop the participants will read, discuss, and critique poetry by mostly American poets who have used violent images as a metaphor of self defense.
Date: Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Time: 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Location: Paul Robeson House
4951 Walnut Street
This workshop is one in a series of interactive sessions that will use creative mediums to address issues of violence throughout the city of Philadelphia. The resulting work will be used to inspire the design of a large-scale mural to be installed next spring on the exterior wall of Ben Franklin High School at Broad and Spring Garden Streets. Through the process of creating a large-scale mural and other related art projects, All Join Hands will raise awareness about the prevalence of youth violence, investigate auses of violent behavior, and foster discussion about solutions.
Space is limited for these events, please email or call Lindsey Rosenberg: 215-685-0760 or [email protected] to participate in this workshop or to find out more information on this project.
