Virtual Non-Partisan Advocacy Day – Jul 1
Posted by Andrew Goodman Foundation on June 22, 2021
Join us for a virtual non-partisan Advocacy Day at 1:00p ET on July 1st, to honor and assert the promise of the 26th Amendment on its anniversary. Following an expert training from Un-PAC, we will have a high-impact action hour for everyone to call their Senators to hold them accountable for their votes on the For The People Act, and then urge their peers to do the same.
July 1st marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of the 26th Amendment, making it an enormously symbolic day to advocate for national voting rights legislation that would help fulfill the Amendment’s promise of youth voting access. As a follow-up to our Rise Up Weekend – taking place June 25-26 – Advocacy Day will create a space for young voters and advocates to take direct action in community with each other, urging passage of the For The People Act. Following a likely first vote in late June, this will be a lesson in holding elected officials accountable, whether that be thanking them for a yes vote, condemning them for a no vote, imploring allies to do more to sway their colleagues, or pushing for a re-introduction if the bill doesn’t pass.
