Village of Champions leads Global Youth Service Day in Philly
Posted by Village of Champions on March 23, 2015
Village of Champions Youth Network Inc., needs your help in promoting our Global Youth Service Day activities during the weekend of April 17-19, 2015. We have been selected as the lead agency in Philadelphia by Youth Service of America (YSA) to host youth led activities that are issues of concerns for our community and globally. These issues and problems are relevant and require immediate attention by our youth, community members, partnering organizations and public officials to support and find working solutions that we can all implement by a show of support, advocacy, political action, sponsorship and donations. The current issues our youth and organization wish to raise their voices and take action are Hunger, physical health, nutrition, obesity and the prevention of juvenile diabetes. Our youth council has chosen to provide school presentations to local schools, feeding the hungry, a gardening project and our signature event will be a “Hunger game” basketball tournament fundraiser with youth raising their voices through a means of “spoken word”, art, and providing information that can offer solutions to develop healthy communities.
Can you help? Do you have students who need to become involved in community service? Do you have youth with ideas, skills or talents or just want to donate their time to help address these problems that plaque our community? Do you have resources that can help or monies to donate? Sponsorship support you wish to give or contacts we can use? Vendor opportunities will also be available.
We need T-shirts for our youth, food for our volunteers, financial donations/sponsorships to help pay for hosted venues to cover rental fees, insurance, etc, and printing costs. And more importantly key speakers with a message. In addition, media contacts with local TV, Radio to spread and promotes our cause.
