Video – Reducing High School Dropouts: Strategies to Help More Students be College and Career Ready
This forum offered an overview of the American high school dropout crisis. The presentation provided by Christopher Swanson, Vice President of Editorial Projects in Education, highlighted the low rate of graduation in the United States, and discussed the costs associated with such low rates. The presentation spanned the spectrum of issues regarding dropout, from risk factors, to trends in research, to current federal investment in dropout prevention and recovery. The forum concluded with recommendations for ESEA reauthorization, including a suggested common benchmark across all states for graduation rates.
