Video premiere: 5 Heroes of AIDS in Africa
Posted by on March 26, 2004
You are cordially invited to attend the premier screening of 5 Heroes of Aids in Africa, a Web based digital video documentary that was created by Neil Halloran, one of our undergraduates in our Digital Media Design program.
As we continue to work in the “digital divide” space, one of our greatest challenges remains the development and implementation of digital *content* that is useful, productive, and relevant to meeting the challenges of education and human/socioeconomic development. In addition to bringing attention to the plight of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa, Neil’s work explores the use of the Internet as a digital documentary medium that has enormous potential for interactivity with its audience.
5 Heroes of Aids in Africa

Neil Halloran began working on this project in the fall of 2001. In 2002, he traveled to southern Africa where he spent 5 months gathering material for the documentary. http://www.aidsinafrica.net is Neil’s first journalistic web site and he hopes to further explore this field of “independent web journalism” and launch other sites on different topics. This premiere will be the culmination of 3 years of work on this project. For more information on the project, please go to: http://www.aidsinafrica.net/
With best wishes,
