Summary of Principle Duties:

The Victim Services Specialist (Adult Probation/Parole Department) is primarily responsible for providing support and advocacy for domestic violence victims and their families when the abusive partner is under the supervision of the Adult Probation/Parole Department (APPD). In addition, the Victim Services Specialist (Adult Probation/Parole Department) will be responsible for the ongoing training and education on domestic violence of Probation officers within the department, and will participate in the Domestic Violence Law Enforcement Committee of Philadelphia (DVLECP). All responsibilities are implemented according to our mission and vision and according to Agency standards.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in the field of human services or equivalent experience is required,
A minimum of two (2) years experience providing supportive services to victims of domestic violence preferred.
The individual is expected to demonstrate understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, knowledge of community resources, and sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence victims and their families.
Demonstrate good-listening and communication skills (verbal and written) skills.
Able to work independently and in a variety of settings.
Demonstrate effective problem solving skills.
Proficient computer skills (e.g. word, excel, outlook)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.
Demonstrated commitment to service of others is required.
Bilingualism, Spanish/English is strongly preferred.
Completion of the 45-hour Domestic Training Class and APPD new officer training are required.
Employment offer and continued employment are contingent upon satisfactory pre-employment physical, child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances required (all related fees will be paid by Women Against Abuse).

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

Salary: Commensurate with experience as well as a generous, comprehensive benefit package.
