The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is currently seeking a Victim Assistance Coordinator to work in our Office of Child and Youth Protection in Center City.

Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling and a minimum of three years’ experience working in direct services required. Knowledge and experience providing victim assistance and working with victims of crime and trauma required. Driver’s license and reliable means of transportation required. Strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are critical. Working knowledge of and comfort with Catholic faith and parish life required.

Respond to the Victim Assistance calls and emails. Provide support and assistance to victims of sexual abuse within the Archdiocese. Provide comprehensive case management services and supportive counseling and assessment of needs in conjunction with the victim and provide appropriate social service referrals when necessary. Forward any allegation of sexual abuse or violations of the Archdiocesan Boundaries of Ministerial Behavior to the Delegate for Investigation. Provide victims with information on available services through the victim assistance program. Provide information on investigation process. Assist victims in locating and securing counseling services and other related mental health services including support groups, psychiatric services, spiritual counseling, transportation, etc. Provide information to victims on reporting allegations of sexual abuse to civil authorities (law enforcement) and accompany them to local law enforcement interviews as requested. Provide support and assistance to parishes in response to an announcement of the removal of a member of the clergy, staff or volunteer due to an allegation of sexual abuse. Maintain client confidentiality and privacy. Maintain client records. Make recommendations to the Director regarding policies, procedures, and practice to enhance all aspects of services to victims of sexual abuse within the Archdiocese. Attend trainings as necessary.
